Four years ago, a video was recorded in the J.M. de los Ríos Hospital (the biggest children’s Hospital in Venezuela) in which 9 parents begged for help so that their children’s lives could be saved, after getting infected by a dangerous bacteria, which would turn out to be fatal.
Vicky, Carmen, Emilce, Judith and Katherine watched the video again, after it became an important piece of evidence, presented before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), in order to prove the cruel negligence displayed by the lack of supplies and the infrastructure failures which have caused the deaths of dozens of children.
These preventable deaths not only provoked unbearable pain to these families, but they also represent the devastating effects of the Complex Humanitarian Emergency that Venezuela suffers from.
