KIERAN FIRTH-BERNARD
Kieran is an imaginative and enthusiastic creative on the Autistic spectrum who has exceeded his academic expectations to become an animator. He is very passionate about developing characters and worlds that bring stories to life through animation, and hopes to create his own animated series one day.
"Originally started off as an idea I had for a social media avatar, Cloud Boy is my method of telling people "this is who I am" using animation. I decided to make something personal for my graduation film by developing a short semi-biopic featuring visual metaphors and quirks associated with Autism, a subject matter that often gets looked down on. My purpose for this film is to make it appealing for children at schools to watch and to understand the perspective of life through an autistic person's eyes. I would also like to give a mention to Don Hertzfeldt's animated masterpiece "It's Such a Beautiful Day" (2012) for inspiring the use of abstract framing for my film."
